Get to know our bilingual secondary school.

1. My child has attended a state school until now. Will he be able to make the switch to a bilingual school concept with a high proportion of learning in English?

Many of our students have followed this path very successfully. In doing so, a child or young person benefits from the principle of the language bath, which makes it possible to learn English in a natural way.

The learning effect of everyday life at the Josef Schwarz School is similar to a stay in an English-speaking country.  Experiences at various internationally oriented schools show: In a learning environment where English is both the language of learning and the language of communication, the language competence of most children develops very quickly. Pupils who are exposed to such a language bath often succeed in catching up with their classmates within a few months and achieve very good results, provided they have the necessary self-motivation. In addition, we support lateral entrants in many ways:

• Direct support in the individual lesson
• Bilingual vocabulary lists
• German summaries in English lessons
• Mutual support from classmates
• English-speaking specialists prepared for bilingualism
• General support in English in the afternoon (learning time)
• Specific support through additional booster input in the afternoon
• Visiting English-speaking foreign countries as a language and holiday trip offers additional support during the holiday period.

2. My child speaks no or only very little German. Is an admission still possible?

Especially in the lower classes (especially 5 and 6), an admission with no or little knowledge of German can be possible....

What is important, however, is the child's willingness to acquire the German language as quickly and purposefully as possible. Since all final examinations are held in German, the language level C1 must be reached in grade 9 at the latest.
